MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The nation's leader in kills came out swinging Friday against Illinois State in a first-round match of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament at Marquette University's Al McGuire Center.
Cincinnati's 6-foot-4 Jordan Thompson pounded out 20 kills and her team had a .457 hitting percentage while handing the Redbirds a 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 defeat in a match filled with offensive efficiency.
The loss ended ISU's season with a 25-8 record, while Cincinnati advanced to Saturday's second round with a 26-7 mark.
Thompson, a junior outside hitter, hit .320 on her 50 attacks after entering the match with an NCAA-best 6.
