ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Freshman Nicola Jansen (Pretoria, South Africa/Waterkloof) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Female Athlete of the Week after breaking the meet record in the 3,000 meters at last week's Hawkeye Invitational, according to an announcement by the league office Tuesday.
In her Bradley Track debut, Jansen nearly broke the school record in the 3,000 meters Saturday in Iowa City, Iowa. In fact, she won the 3,000-meter title and broke the meet record with a time of 9:26.14, claiming the top spot in the field by nearly 50 seconds. Her time, which ranks 21st nationally and was the 3,000-meter time in the MVC since 2018-19, was just over one second from topping Bradley's school record set by Caitlin Busch in 2016.
