MACOMB — When the Illinois State football team last saw Western Illinois, the Redbirds were defeating the Leathernecks for the second time of the 2015 season and sixth straight overall in the FCS playoffs at Hancock Stadium.
When ISU last saw Charlie Fisher one week later, Fisher and Richmond were knocking the Redbirds out of the FCS playoffs.
The Richmond offensive coordinator last season, Fisher is now the head coach at Western. The Leathernecks have their sights set on the playoffs with ISU hoping to remain in postseason contention entering Saturday’s 1 p.m. Missouri Valley Football Conference game at Hanson Field.
