On Wednesday, the NCAA made it 100 percent by granting the Illinois State quarterback a sixth year of eligibility. That means Davis has two more seasons to play for the Redbirds and not one.
Davis, who transferred to ISU last summer from Memphis, sat out the 2015 season with the Tigers as a redshirt and then missed the entire 2016 season with a knee injury.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder played one game at Memphis in 2017 before becoming ISU’s starter last season.
Davis was second in Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer of the Year voting after passing for 1,935 yards and 19 touchdowns for the Redbirds.
