There were four teams tied atop the Missouri Valley Conference basketball standings after the first week of league play. Just a week later, only one team remains unscathed — and it's hardly a surprise who it is.
Wichita State, beset by injuries earlier in the season that resulted in a 6-5 nonconference record, looks ready to dominate the Valley again.
The Shockers, who went 35-1 in league games the last two seasons, took care of two of the other three undefeated Valley teams last week. Wichita State slipped past Evansville, 67-64, before going on the road and routing Southern Illinois, 83-58.
