FARGO. N.D. — Illinois State could be without its leading rusher for several weeks after a 31-10 loss to top-ranked North Dakota State on Saturday at the Fargodome.
Sophomore George Moreira suffered what ISU fears is a broken collarbone in the defeat. Moreira rushed for a team-high 47 yards against the Bison. Through five games, Moreira has 287 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. He is averaging 6.8 yards per carry.
Moreira's absence would likely mean additional carries for senior Jamal Towns, redshirt freshman DeMarco Corbin and true freshman James Robinson.
ISU also lost cornerback Davontae Harris to an injury Saturday.
