NORMAL — As a scout team member at the University of Iowa, Romeo McKnight was allowed to rush the quarterback. But hitting the man who ran the Hawkeye offense was strictly forbidden.
McKnight now pulls an Illinois State jersey over his head. And with two healthy knees under him, hitting the opposing quarterback is not only allowed but heartily encouraged.
“The kid hadn’t seen much playing time before coming to Illinois State,” ISU defensive line coach Brian Hendricks said. “He really just needs the confidence to know he can trust in his athletic ability because there are so many things he can bring to the table.
