NORMAL — With 2,501 passing yards and 772 more on the ground as a senior, Malachi Broadnax was a standout quarterback at Trinity Christian High School in Cedar Hill, Texas.
Being asked to give up that goal, Broadnax has done so with a shift to the defensive side of the ball at safety for the Redbirds.
Broadnax's running ability was obvious. With elusiveness and speed, Broadnax rushed for 242 yards and a touchdown. As a passer, he completed 13 of 26 for 105 yards. He even caught one pass for 9 yards.
Yet the transfer of Brady Davis from Memphis added to a surplus at quarterback for ISU.
