Luke Smith turned in a stellar start and Louisville's bats did the rest in an 11-2 NCAA Tournament victory over the Redbirds, who had clipped the No. 7 national seeds, 4-2, the previous day.
"Obviously, that wasn't the way we drew it up," ISU coach Steve Holm said. "But we've done a good job this year when we've taken a lump like that and responding the next day."
The No. 3 regional seed Redbirds and top-seeded Cardinals meet again Monday at noon (CDT) in a winner-take-all contest with a Super Regional berth on the line.
