NORMAL — Illinois State linebackers Alex Donnelly and Brent Spack are in the club, and they aren't quite ready to renounce membership.
Donnelly and Spack continue to wear heavily wrapped protective clubs on their broken right hands entering Friday's 6:30 p.m. FCS quarterfinal playoff game against Richmond at Hancock Stadium.
“I’ve played with it seven weeks, and Alex has played with it eight weeks,” said Spack, a Normal Community High School graduate and the son of head coach Brock Spack. “We’ve gotten to where it’s just routine to make tackles with it.”
Both linebackers are nearing total recovery but want to keep the clubs in place for now.
