Fine choice. Wallen brought the Illinois State women’s basketball team back from the dead Friday at Redbird Arena.
Wallen scored 10 points in the final 36 seconds of regulation to force overtime and nailed two free throws with 1.6 seconds left in the second extra period to carry the Redbirds to a wild 86-85 Missouri Valley Conference victory before a crowd of 619.
“Two overtimes help,” a modest Wallen said of her career-high 35 points. “I tried to take good shots, and my team did a good job getting me the ball.”
ISU, which trailed 64-58 in the final minute of regulation, improved to 14-8 overall and 6-5 in the MVC.
