ST. LOUIS – Illinois State softball standouts Mack Leonard and Morgan Day have earned the Missouri Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, respectively, the league office announced on Monday.
Leonard provided power at the plate this week, as the Redbirds went 4-0 with series wins over Bradley and Evansville. The junior utility player led the team offensively, going 5-for-9 (.556) at the dish, scoring five runs, drawing four walks and taking 14 total bases. Leonard belted three home runs, including a pair in a run-rule of Bradley, while turning in a team-leading seven RBI.
