NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Redbirds got a driving lay-up for a three-point play by Colton Sandage as the Redbirds closed a 13-2 run to lead by one; however, the comeback fell just short in a 70-67 loss to Northwestern State on Thursday night inside CEFCU Arena – Home of the Redbirds.
Darius Burford scored a team-high 20 points, making 7-of-13 shots from the field and 2-of-4 from long range, while also dishing out a game-high five assists. Kendall Lewis scored 14 points with a team-high seven rebounds while Colton Sandage scored a season-high 12 points, including going 3-of-7 from beyond the arc.
