The “typical” came courtesy of on-again, off-again execution and consistency during Illinois State’s 74-66 season-opening victory over Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday night at Redbird Arena.
It was on both ends of Doug Collins Court and from both sides. But ultimately, ISU took this from the first game of a season with high expectations:
Among the Redbird positives was a willingness to share the ball. It didn’t always pay off in points and Muller was not doing cartwheels afterward over the Redbirds’ offensive execution. Still, there were signs this could be and perhaps will be an unselfish group.
