Darrelynn Dunn’s job at Normal Community High School includes overseeing students serving in-school suspensions, assisting with interventions and filling in as a substitute teacher.
“I carry out duties and tasks that are needed throughout the building,” he said. “I’m kind of the Swiss Army Knife around the building.”
When school is in session, Dunn clocks in at 8 a.m., leaves around 4 p.m. and then goes to practices, games or meets as an assistant coach in three sports. He is busy, challenged and exactly where he needs to be.
A former standout running back at Bloomington High School and Illinois State, Dunn said goodbye to the game as a player over the weekend.
