NORMAL — Phil Fayne, a 6-foot-8 forward from Western Nebraska Community College, announced Friday night on Twitter he will sign a national letter of intent to play basketball for Illinois State.
Fayne averaged 11.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this past season for Western Nebraska. He shot 62.4 percent from the field and 41.5 percent at the free throw line, starting 20 of the 30 games he played.
A native of Elk Grove, Calif., Fayne will have three years of eligibility with the Redbirds. He visited the ISU campus earlier this month.
Fayne was named to the Region IX all-tournament team.
