ISU's Rodgers heads to NCAA indoor championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Illinois State’s Derrius Rodgers will compete in 60-meter dash at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday at Texas A&M's Gilliam Indoor Stadium.

A freshman from Lockport, Rodgers is ISU's first qualifier in the 60 and the program's first athlete to qualify for any event since shot putter Curt Jensen in 2014.

Rodgers broke a 21-year-old school record in the 60 with a time at 6.64 while placing second at the Missouri Valley Conference indoor meet.

“Derrius has worked hard to get this opportunity to race the best in the NCAA,” said ISU coach Jeff Bovee.
