Illinois State sophomore Jaylan McConico qualified for the NCAA Championships late Saturday night with his performance in the NCAA Track & Field West Preliminary Round at Sacramento, Calif.
McConico won his heat of the 110-meter high hurdles in 13.70 seconds to automatically advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon on June 6-9. It was the third-fastest qualifying time in the West region. McConico will be joined in Eugene by senior teammate Anderson Devonish, who qualified in the 400-meter dash Friday.
"Jaylan McConico is two-for-two this year, qualifying for both the 2018 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships during his fantastic sophomore campaign," said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jeff Bovee.
