NORMAL — Illinois State basketball coach Dan Muller announced Monday that junior forward Deontae Hawkins has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.
Muller gave no specifics while making the announcement in a one-sentence university release Monday afternoon. John Twork of the ISU sports information department said Muller was awaiting more information before commenting.
Muller will be available to the media on Tuesday at the Missouri Valley Conference Basketball Media Day in St. Louis.
The 6-foot-8 Hawkins averaged 10.3 points and a team-high 5.8 rebounds last season, appearing in all 32 games and making 31 starts.
