EDWARDSVILLE — The Illinois State women's basketball team received 25 points and 12 rebounds from Simone Goods, but dropped a 68-61 nonconference decision to Southern Illinois Edwardsville in the Redbirds' season opener on Sunday.
Edwardsville outscored the Redbirds 23-10 in the fourth quarter to grab the win. Prior to the rally, ISU had leads of 14-12 after the first quarter, 31-28 at halftime and 51-45 heading into the final period.
ISU's biggest lead of the night was eight points in the third quarter. Edwardsville embarked on a 13-0 scoring run in the final frame to pull out the win.
