SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Illinois State women’s basketball team snapped the third longest active winning streak in the country Friday with a 60-56 upset of Missouri Valley Conference leader Missouri State at JQH Arena.
“I’m so proud of this team,” ISU coach Kristen Gillespie said. “This team has great belief, we’re playing pretty well and we talk about how we can’t do anything about the past.”
While improving to 14-9 overall and 7-5 in the MVC, the Redbirds snapped the Bears’ 13-game winning streak. Missouri State slipped to 14-8 and 10-1 in Valley play.
Senior Simone Goods, who sat out the second quarter with two fouls, led ISU with 23 points.
