TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Illinois State women's basketball team battled back from a slow start but couldn't overcome the early deficit in a 63-56 Missouri Valley Conference loss to Indiana State on Sunday at the Hulman Center. Colleene Smith scored a career-high 17 points and also pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds for ISU which falls to 3-11 overall and 1-2 in the MVC.
“I thought it was a very slow start and was hard for us to get going there at the beginning,” ISU head coach Barb Smith said. “It took us so long to get going in the first half, but in the second half I felt we came out and played hard.
