NORMAL — The Illinois State volleyball team took possession of the top spot in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with a thrilling, five-set victory over Northern Iowa on Saturday night at Redbird Arena.
The 25-20, 24-26, 25-14, 22-25, 15-11 win was the 10th-straight match victory for the Redbirds, who improved to 22-5 overall and 14-1 in league play. Northern Iowa suffered its first Valley loss of the year and fell to 13-1 in the MVC and 19-8 overall.
