ISU hopes practice battles translate into wins, NCAA Tournament

NORMAL — William Tinsley didn't plan on coming to Illinois State's Basketball Media Day with a couple stitches near his left eye on Wednesday afternoon.

That happened earlier in the day during a morning practice when he bumped heads with Keith Fisher.

Yet Tinsley, a 6-foot-6 senior guard from Colfax, said the incident goes to show just how intense the first official week of practice has been for the Redbirds — and how that just might be the necessary push for ISU to end its 20-year NCAA Tournament drought.
