The addition of Niekamp and Kye Stewart to holdovers Khenon Hall and Mike Banks gives ISU head coach Brock Spack four assistants who are former Redbird players.
Niekamp was an ISU defensive lineman from 1994-97. He began his coaching career under Todd Berry with the Redbirds. Niekamp then worked at Army, Louisiana-Monroe, Washington State, Eastern Washington and Montana before returning to his alma mater.
