“I am so thrilled President (Larry) Dietz and (director of athletics) Larry (Lyons) feel confident in the direction our program is going under my leadership,” Gillespie said. “But it’s been a total team effort. My staff has done an outstanding job in recruiting and team development. This is definitely a reflection on all of them.”
Gillespie’s extension covers two more years than her original contract. The Redbirds were 8-23 the year before Gillespie arrived on campus. ISU improved to 14-16 in her first season on the bench and continued that rise with a 19-12 mark last season.
In his first season as ISU baseball coach, Holm earned a share of the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title and advanced to the championship game of the NCAA Tournament’s Louisville Regional.
