Illinois State basketball coach Dan Muller was philosophical after the 73-50 beating his team took Wednesday at Indiana State. ISU dropped to 14-14 overall and 7-8 in the Missouri Valley Conference, losing its fifth game in a row. The Redbirds are locked in a four-way tie for fifth place with Bradley, Southern Illinois and Valparaiso.

“It’s a combination of frustration and self-pity always creeps in situations like this. We talk about not having it, but it’s human nature. The thing that’s dangerous at this time of year, if you get that and guys will want the season to be over.
