NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State baseball team had the winning run at the plate with one in the 9th inning but dropped an 8-6 decision against Missouri State at Duffy Bass Field on Friday.
The Redbirds grounded into a double play with runners on first and second after entering the inning down 8-4.
Freshman Daniel Pacella had a trio of hits and RBIs for the Redbirds (8-12 overall, 1-3 overall). Two of Pacella's hits were doubles.
Missouri State improves to 12-12 overall and 1-3 in the MVC.
