Kristen Gillespie asked and because of that inquiry, her Illinois State women's basketball team is headed to Champaign to take on the University of Illinois on Saturday in a 2 p.m. nonconference game at the State Farm Center.
"We're getting better so hopefully we can be competitive," Gillespie said. "Our players like the opportunity to play a Power Five school to see where we match up."
Redbird senior Megan Talbot played with and against Illinois senior Ali Andrews at various levels while growing up in the Chicago suburbs.
The Redbirds are 1-1 after defeating Truman State (87-60) and losing to Marquette (58-41).
