Twice in the past three games, Illinois State guard Mary Crompton has swished a 3-pointer only to see it waved off by a foul on a teammate away from the ball.
For a struggling shooter, that might be devastating.
"Whether it counts or not, it's good to see the ball go through the hoop," Crompton said. "It gave me confidence I was going to knock them down eventually."
ISU coach Kristen Gillespie shares that view as her 3-1 Redbirds travel to Grand Forks, N.D., Sunday for a 2 p.m. nonconference game against North Dakota at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
