NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team recorded a walk-off 4-3 victory over Dallas Baptist in 10 innings on nationally televised ESPNU on Friday at Duffy Bass Field.
With runners on first and second and one out in the 10th inning, fifth-year senior Nick Gile grounded a ball to second base. The Patriots (25-16 overall, 5-5 Missouri Valley Conference) recorded the force out at second base, but an errant throw allowed third-year sophomore Greg Nichols to score from second base.
Fifth-year junior Jared Hart provided a strong outing, giving the 'Birds (16-21 overall, 4-6 MVC) seven innings while allowing a trio of runs.
