Illinois State topples Cornell for fourth consecutive win

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Illinois State basketball team rode torrid 3-point shooting to its fourth straight victory Sunday with an 80-77 non-conference decision over Cornell at Newman Arena.

The Redbirds moved to 8-4, while the Big Red slipped to 7-4.

ISU sophomore guard Johnny Kinziger was limited to 14 minutes after suffering a first-half knee injury. The Redbirds do not expect to know the extent of Kinziger's injury until after Christmas.

ISU converted 14 of 26 shots (53.8) percent from 3-point range. The Redbirds finished at 50 percent (27 of 54) overall.

A Ty Pence 3-pointer handed ISU a 34-27 edge at the 7:10 mark of the first half.
