NORMAL – It has not been a leisurely summer for the Illinois State football coaching staff.
Besides running camps and welcoming Redbird newcomers to campus, the ISU coaches have been quite busy and quite successful in recruiting.
ISU has secured commitments from 16 high school standouts, a larger than usual number more than five months from the December signing day.
“It’s been pretty quick,” Redbirds coach Brock Spack said. “Kids have gotten pretty smart about not waiting too long. A lot of guys have been burned by waiting around. It appears they are making their decisions earlier.
