MACOMB, Ill. – The Illinois State women's soccer team fell, 4-3, to Western Illinois in overtime after five goals were scored in a span of 19:57 to close the game at Hanson Field on Thursday.
The Redbirds (1-2 overall) put the pressure on he Leathernecks (1-2 overall) early in the first half, cashing in with senior Riley O'Brien's 15th-minute goal by fifth-year senior Sarah LaFayette. O'Brien has now scored in three-straight games to open the fall 2021 season.
Amy Andrews, who scored all four goals for WIU, answered quickly, netting a 23rd-minute goal.
