CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team was topped, 5-2, by Indiana State in the MVC Tournament on Wednesday at Itchy Jones Stadium.
The Redbirds (23-33 overall) will face eighth-seeded Valparaiso at 10:00 a.m. CT on Thursday in an elimination game.
Fifth-year senior Joe Butler had three hits while fourth-year junior Tyson Hays added two hits. Second-year freshman Ryan Cermak hit a solo home run as the Redbirds generated seven hits.
Indiana State (28-17 overall) moves on to face the winner of Southern Illinois and Bradley.
