NORMAL — Rey Idowu likely won't be a starter for Illinois State's basketball team as a freshman next fall.
ISU coach Dan Muller announced Thursday the signing of Idowu, a 6-foot-9, 235-pound power forward from Tampa, Fla., to a national letter of intent during the one-week fall signing period that began Wednesday.
The Redbirds are waiting for the paperwork of 6-9, 190-pound Demontay Dixon of Spring Hill, Tenn., who made a verbal commitment in August. NCAA rules prohibit coaches from talking about recruits until they are officially signed.
Idowu graduated from high school last spring and is playing this season for Clearwater (Fla.
