How Bradley’s basketball coach ended up leading a group of 11-year-olds to victory

Bradley coach Brian Wardle’s daughter, Mya, and her Heart of Illinois AAU basketball team needed a coach last weekend for its one-day shootout in Romeoville.

Mya’s dad took the reins, and the results couldn’t have been better.

The 11-year-olds went 3-0, winning all three games by a comfortable margin while being led by an NCAA Division I coach.

“It was a lot of fun,” Wardle said. “The girls were great listeners. It’s a tough, competitive group that is very, very coachable. I really enjoyed it.

“But I don’t know if Mya enjoyed it as much.
