DES MOINES, Iowa — A 58 percent shooting performance by Drake proved too much for the Illinois State women's basketball team as the Redbirds dropped a 76-41 decision to the Bulldogs on Sunday evening at the Knapp Center.
Compounding ISU's difficulty was its own 5-for-30 (16.7 percent) shooting in the second half that allowed Drake to put together 18-3 and 12-0 scoring runs to drop ISU to 3-13 overall and 1-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
"For the first quarter and a half, we stayed with them and were playing tough," said ISU coach Barb Smith. "After that, we just stopped hitting shots and we couldn't bounce back.
