EDWARDSVILLE, IL - Senior outfielder Evan Gruener returned to the starting lineup with a bang and Matthew Richey pitched 4.2 innings of one-hit, scoreless relief as the duo led Bradley (13-16) to a 10-7 win against SIU Edwardsville (17-15) Tuesday night at Simmons Complex.
Tuesday's game was Bradley's first matchup against former associate head coach Sean Lyons, who is in his first year as head coach at SIUE. Two of Bradley's offensive stars under Lyons delivered some big blows against their former hitting instructor Tuesday night.
Gruener, who missed most of the first half of the season due to injury, responded to his first career start in right field by going 2-for-3 with a second-inning grand slam and a fourth-inning single.
