CARBONDALE — Senior Hannah Green had 12 points and eight rebounds Friday night as Illinois State's women's basketball team got past Southern Illinois, 39-36, in a Missouri Valley Conference game at SIU Arena.
Green also blocked five shots in helping the Redbirds improve to 11-12 overall and 5-7 in the Missouri Valley. Simone Goods chipped in nine points for ISU, which held on after building a 32-29 lead through three quarters in the low-scoring affair.
ISU won despite going 10 of 33 from the field and 3 of 10 from 3-point range. The Redbirds were 16 of 26 at the free-throw line while Southern Illinois (12-11, 7-5) was 14 of 60 from the floor, 4 of 14 from the beyond the arc and 4 of 10 at the foul line.
