NORMAL — Illinois State jack linebacker Jalan Gaines knows what it’s like to pursue a fast quarterback. He tries to run down Redbirds signal-caller Tommy Rittenhouse every day in practice.
Gaines and the ISU defense have another running quarterback to chase Saturday as Youngstown State and Beau Brungard visit Hancock Stadium for a 2 p.m. Missouri Valley Football Conference clash.
“He’s a very good runner,” Gaines said. “When we rush the passer we have to make sure we have good leverage to make sure we keep him on our inside.”
