Despite his unassuming 5-foot-8, 165-pound stature, Rutkiewicz has stood tall in training camp and caught a pass over the middle for 20 yards from quarterback Brady Davis on Saturday.
Spack pitted his No. 1 offense against his No. 2 defense and the defensive starters against the offensive second stringers in a variety of situations Saturday.
Davis completed 6 of 11 passes for 70 yards and the scrimmage’s lone touchdown, a 25-yard strike to Braxton Haley during a drill simulating an overtime period. Davis was intercepted by reserve safeties Trenton Hatfield and Luke Bennyhoff.
