ST. LOUIS – Sophomores Mack Leonard and Emme Olson have been placed on the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team, while Alyssa Wiebel and Andrea Coursey have collected honorable mention nods.
Not only was Leonard successful on the field this season – leading the Redbirds with a .443 batting average – but the Normal, Illinois, native's 3.91 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) as an exercise science major in the classroom helped her land a spot on the Valley's Scholar-Athlete First Team. Leonard started in all 20 games she was available for the Redbirds during her sophomore campaign, scoring a team-best 19 runs, registering the 14th-most doubles (10) in all of NCAA Division I and turning in a league-leading 63 total bases.
