Fall Camp Report 4: The Pads Are On

NORMAL, Ill. – For the first time this fall, the Illinois State football team hit the field in full pads on Thursday morning under sunny and clear skies at Hancock Stadium. That meant the first full-contact periods of training camp as well, and head coach Brock Spack wasted little time re-introducing his squad to the program's trademark physicality.

Practice Highlights:

  • After the regular individual drills and special teams circuit, the team immediately went into the 7-on-7 session where quarterbacks Brady Davis, Bryce Jefferson and Jack Baltz took turns connected with receivers … the trio combined to go 12-for-14 including a 4-fo-5 effort from Davis, with the lone incompletion coming on a breakup by Devin Taylor … Jefferson was 5-for-5, with a pair of connections to Joey Lombardi … Baltz posted a 3-for-4 effort thanks to a pair of completions to Pha'leak Brown out of the backfield.
