PEORIA, IL – One team's base hit to right field with runners at first and second resulted in an out at the plate, while the other's turned into the game's only run. In a game that saw both teams collect just three hits, Evansville (12-9, 1-0 MVC) got the RBI single in the sixth inning to earn a 1-0 win against Bradley (12-8, 0-1 MVC) in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams Friday afternoon at Dozer Park.
After a pair of 2-out walks in the bottom of the third inning, Bradley freshman 1B Connor O'Brien hit a sharp single into right field, but Evansville's Troy Beilsmith fielded the ball cleanly on one hop and threw Eli Rawlinson out at the plate to end the inning.
