CONWAY, S.C. — Keyshawn Evans scored 20 of his career-high 29 points in the first half as Illinois State's basketball team downed Tulsa, 84-68, in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Classic at Myrtle Beach third-place game Sunday at HTC Center.
Evans went 10 of 13 from the field, making all six of his 3-point attempts. Milik Yarbrough added 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Phil Fayne had 18 points as the Redbirds improved to 2-2.
ISU faces Quincy at 8 p.m. Wednesday in its home opener at Redbird Arena.
Tulsa (2-3), which trailed by 22 midway through the second half, got within 76-66 with 4:08 left before ISU pulled away.
