ST. LOUIS — Dan Muller emotionally remembered the worst day of his life — and those who weren’t with him Thursday — on one of the best days of his coaching career.
Muller, in his fifth year as Illinois State’s coach, was named Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year on Thursday after leading the Redbirds to a share of their first league regular-season title in 19 years.
The announcement came at the MVC Coach of the Year Luncheon at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel. Muller's speech left many teary eyed.
Muller got choked up when talking about the airplane crash on April 7, 2015.
