PEORIA — If the men’s basketball season began today, Missouri Valley Conference commissioner Doug Elgin said Tuesday, as the COVID-19 pandemic stands, he would not feel comfortable with league teams playing games.
“I would not,” Elgin responded when that question of playing games today was posed on Tuesday’s summer men’s basketball teleconference.
“Our top priority is the health and safety of our student-athletes, our staff, anyone involved in the administration of our games and the fans,” he said. “It’s a little too early to make some of those determinations now.
