DES MOINES, Iowa — A poor Illinois State women's basketball shooting performance blended with Drake's usual offensive effectiveness Thursday at the Knapp Center to form a bad combination for the visitors.
Shooting just 31.7 percent from the field, the Redbirds could not keep up with the high-scoring Bulldogs as Drake cruised to an 88-61 Missouri Valley Conference victory.
“I’ve got to give Drake a ton of credit. What they do is really hard to guard, and the pace they play is really tough to simulate," ISU coach Kristen Gillespie said. "Our inability to finish — we weren’t super aggressive offensively — that really hurt us.
