“Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game, December of 2014,” Davis said. “That’s the last game I started that was live, full contact. God has created me a little interesting path.”
That path has led the Columbus, Miss., native to Hancock Stadium where Davis will be under center as Illinois State opens its season Saturday against NAIA program Saint Xavier in a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
“There will probably be a little jitters, a little anxiousness,” said Davis. “I’ve always kind of thrived off that. Hopefully it stays the same in college.”
Davis sat out 2015 as a redshirt at the University of Memphis, missed the 2016 campaign with an injury and saw action in one game last season before transferring to ISU.
